You hit all the important points. Even though restraint is often something I'm loathe to applaud, Leigh's is astonishing and appropriate. Every actor here contributes something vital and Leigh lets his technicians do the rest.<br /><br />I could sense the crowd (maybe a dozen 50-something couples, my girlfriend and I) receiving and conceptualizing every scene as it slowly dawned on them what precisely the film was getting at, myself included.
