Now that you mention it, the aesthetic of BOtD doesn't look too radically different from the trailer for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs The World, an adaptation of a comic book that itself reads like a video game of a comic book. But I think that this film is so sadly underseen, and it mixes this bold and hyperstylized look with some genuine emotion. I'd actually place it just under GoodFellas, and I'd wager that this film grabbed me in a number of places more than Scorsese's highly engaging mob picture.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09078001374402400232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494160638739613756.post-64724913807734983802010-04-28T04:09:49.332-04:002010-04-28T04:09:49.332-04:00Superb review, Jake, of a film that I like very mu...Superb review, Jake, of a film that I like very much. And you've done a splendid job of locating the film within Scorsese's filmography.

I felt that this was the best comic-book movie there could be - both visually and tonally. And it's also a film of such gargantuan ironies. Truly remarkable stuff.Just Another Film Buffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17880550053788464732noreply@blogger.com
