The dialogue and the way you were so helpful and courteous. And your haircut .and I have no idea how you kept a straight face during the auction scene. It takes rare ability to achieve that I suspect. Maybe that is part of his wider aim in the film to show human vulnerability but not to apportion blame. We know Bruno & co don't have the skill-set to manage life in the U.S. Aside from the great performances (including Scott!) I think the music, the strained and slightly manic "There's no place like home" along with the absurdist humour are supreme elements of the film. It is a masterpiece. I'm grateful.

To have been part of something over thirty years ago that is still relevant and compelling has been one of the great joys I've experienced.

I had the opportunity -- thanks to Roger Ebert and his "Ebertfest" at the University of Illinois -- to reconnect with Herzog just last year. He's just as fascinating and charismatic today as he was then. It is though his spirit hasn't changed, even as the body ages.

Again, thanks for mentioning me in your terrific review. I really enjoy your work...I have never commented before, so there's no way you could know that I read your posts!

Scott McKainScott McKainhttp://mckainviewpoint.comnoreply@blogger.com
