But New Moon was nowhere near Twilight! I still liked it, but it felt disappointing mainly because I hate Bella.
So, I liked New Moon but I can definitively agree with the bad reviews.
And I too am surprised as to why this is so popular.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494160638739613756.post-73098580987331768762010-04-13T21:33:43.581-04:002010-04-13T21:33:43.581-04:00I've been trying to understand why this franch...I've been trying to understand why this franchise(books and movies) have become so popular with the ladies, and what one person that I know said was that, especially in the books, they could relate to Bella, and they like the idea of there being a vampire guy that's in love with them in a weird, passionate way.

There's of course those fat, single girls out there that can't help but love these books, even if maybe they know they're bad. It's a fan-service. The movies were made, not with any good intention, but just because the books were popular. It seems a little sad to me.

(This is one of the last comments that I'll be posting. I'm taking a 3-month leaving, on account of my mistakes.)Spencerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03669266022229029181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494160638739613756.post-48760529830393347752009-11-26T15:34:04.916-05:002009-11-26T15:34:04.916-05:00Jake - You are incredibly prolific! Having read Twilight and the first third of New Moon, and having discussed the series with my teenage students who love it or hate it, it's interesting to me that fans are so passionate about a pretty basic love story: the lonely outsider girl torn between two guys. Also, there's not a lot of conflict in the books. In the first book, Bella and Edward engage in pages and pages of repetitious dialogue. But Bella certainly has a passion for Edward, and that's what the female fans tap into. Also, I'm intrigued by your "sexual repression" comment above. There's that and a lot of sexual tension in the movies; I guess that's a powerful theme.Richard Bellamyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12397053921647421425noreply@blogger.com
